49 Up is the seventh video of a remarkable documentary series that began 42 years ago when the World in Action team at Granada in the United Kingdom was inspired by the Jesuit ideal "Give me the child till he reaches the age of seven, and I will give you the man," interviewed a diverse group of seven-year-old youngsters from around England, inquiring about their life and future ambitions. Michael Apted, the film's researcher, has returned every seven years since to interview the "children" at ages 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, and now 49. This latest volume contains more life-altering revelations, more stunning declarations, and more members of the original group than ever before, speaking out on a variety of issues including love, marriage, career, class, and prejudice.
