Bread is really actually a television sitcom, produced by the BBC written by Carla Lane and screened to 3. The show focused on the devoutly-Catholic and extended Boswell family of Liverpool, in the field of Dingle, headed by its matriarch Nellie by way of a number of downs and ups as they strove to produce their way through life in Thatcher's Britain without a visible means of support. The street is Elswick Street. A family group called Boswell had featured in Lane sitcom The Liver Birds and also Lane confessed in interviews that the 2 families were probably related. Freddie, nellie's feckless and husband, abandoned her for another woman called as'Lilo Lill'. Her kids Joey, Jack, Adrian, Aveline and Billy continued to reside in the home in Kelsall Street and contributed money to the family fund, chiefly through benefit fraud and the sale of stolen goods.
